The German advance on Amiens was stopped just east of the city in 1918, and the Allies' Hundred Days Offensive began here that August. The Gothic cathedral on the map is real.
Visiting
Walk from the cathedral down to the canal-side Saint-Leu quarter; the Villers-Bretonneux Australian memorial is a short drive east.
