The real place

Bodie is a gold-rush ghost town in Mono County, preserved in 'arrested decay' as a state historic park. The game's ghost town echoes its weathered timber buildings.

Visiting

Reach it on State Route 270 from US 395 near Bridgeport; the last 3 miles (about 5 km) are unpaved and the road is usually closed by snow in winter. There is an entry fee and no food on site.
