The real place

Compton is a city in southern Los Angeles County closely linked with West Coast hip-hop and gang culture in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Ganton's name is a play on Compton, but no single real street has been confirmed as the model for Grove Street.

Visiting

Compton is a working residential city rather than a tourist site, so there is no Grove Street to find. If you drive through, avoid photographing people's homes.
