In the game

A wide beach with a long pier (the Yacht Harbor) and a lighthouse; the race in 'High Stakes, Low-Rider' finishes off the end of the pier.

The real place

Santa Monica Pier opened in 1909 and carries the Pacific Park funfair with its solar-panelled Ferris wheel. The game's pier sits in the middle of the beach in the same way.

Visiting

The pier is free to enter, and the Metro E Line ends at Downtown Santa Monica station a short walk away. Sunset is the busiest and most photogenic time.
